foreclosure conference
foreclosure conference
My IRS conference code changed from 1201 to 1221 !?

Has this happened to anyone else? If so, when did you get you get your refund??? I really, really need my money. My house is about to go into foreclosure. Can anyone help???
How long does it usually take for a taxpayer to get a full refund in this case?

Unfortunately there’s nothing that you can do to expedite this. Your return has been pulled for manual review. If the IRS needs additional information they will be in touch shortly. You should receive a CP05 letter in the next week or so that will advise you of the delay and may or may not give a reason for the delay. If the IRS hasn’t provided more information within 3 weeks of the CP05 letter you can call them at that time. The customer service folks at the IRS won’t have any information until at least 3 weeks after the date on the CP05 letter at the earliest.

Most of the time when this happens it’s because there is a large refundable credit on your return (EIC or FTHB usually) that somehow falls outside of the “normal” parameters. Due to the amounts of money involved in these credits they are popular targets for fraudsters trying to pull one over on the IRS. The IRS is scrutinizing these claims much more closely as a result of past fraudulent activity by some taxpayers.

While your return is being reviewed, the IRS might release a portion of your refund that is not in question. That’s normally an amount equal to the excess tax withheld from your pay after rolling out any questionable claims.
