Home Mortgage charged off?
My husband lost his job at Ford and we had been calling the mortgage company to no avail. We went to a non-profit hud counselor and they stopped returning her calls too. We have not made a mortgage pymt in 7 months and have not received a statement in 3 months or any other correspondence. We want to keep our home, but, the company has not been willing to work with us. I took off work today and called and after being transferred and talking to people for 3 hours. The final person told me that the mortgage has been charged off. I pulled my husband and I credit report and it showing our mortgage as a charge off. I looked up the court docket and no papers have been filed for foreclosure. What does this mean and what can we do to keep our home?
it probably all depends on the holder of the mortgage
I did hear of a man somewhere in the east who had not paid for a year but was still in his home
it might be the holder of the mortgage feels safer having someone in the home rather than let it be subject to vandalism etc. Time might come tho you will be noticed to get out
