Foreclosure help in N.Y.?
Can a bank (lender) go into your home (or hire someone else to) and change all the locks and remove all your personal belongings such as clothes,family photos etc. BEFORE the foreclosure is finalized? I live in New York state
Other than the first letter (Letter of intent to foreclose) I have received nothing from the bank ,their lawyers or anyone else in regards to this foreclosure.Not sure what stage the foreclosure is in. As the homeowner,shouldn’t I be informed as to what is going on during the proceedings?
The foreclosure process itself can easily take a year or more from the time you received your first summons of Lis Pendens from the mortgage company. Along the way you should have received no less than a half dozen documents and court dates, including the sale date of your property. All this information is available online thru your county website. Your initial documents should tell you where to call, and online it would say what status your foreclosure is in. A property search would show if the title of the property has been changed from YOU to the bank in a foreclosure sale.
