How long do I have to wait after Republicans retake Congress before the economy will be fixed?
As I recall, Republicans started asking “Why hasn’t Obama fixed the economy?” about one month after his inauguration. By three months after inauguration, they were blaming every dip in the Dow Jones Industrial Average on Obama. By the middle of 2009, every single piece of bad economic news was Obama’s fault.
The way I figure it, if the Republicans retake Congress, the rest of us have every right to expect the economy to start healing within a month, and to be completely healed within about five months.
I would therefore expect that by the middle of 2011, unemployment will be at 5%, home foreclosure rates will have dropped to 2005 levels, and the DOW will be at about 14,000.
Fair?
Oh, and one more thing: If the economy DOESN’T improve drastically in a few months, no blaming Obama. You don’t want to imitate any of the Democrats who have tried to blame Bush, would you?
