land foreclosures in georgia

I Really Want to Buy This House, But is it Really worth buying? Help!?

I am looking at a home in Georgia, where my family is from. I am very interested in the house my grandparents lived in when i was a child. The home has approximately 2000 sqft and sits on 0.45 acres of land. The home was built in 1925 and has 3 beds, 2 baths, a living room, den, kitchen, dining room, and washroom. The house is very growed up. Its covered in vines and the grass and bushes are taller than the house. The only structural problems is that there is a sagging floor in a section of the den and a section of the dining room. Both bathrooms also need plumbing work. The house has newly put blue vinyl siding and needs a new roof. The was in foreclosure about 2 years ago. There is also an apartment building that comes along with the house. It also needs to be updated and remodled.

If you have lived in a house of this age then you will know what kind of problems can come with it- everything.

My father wanted to buy a house that was special in his family- thank goodness he didn’t. There have since been two families go broke trying to fix it up.

At least have the house professionally inspected and estimates made of what all needs to be done. You may be money ahead just tearing it down and building a modern home that looks sort of like it.

Tax sale and foreclosure homes.?

I have 9,300 dollars in my savings, I will like to move into a real nice home. I saw a informercial, that got me all hyped, it said that I could by a foreclosure home for $300 up to 10,000. is this true and if so is it possible I could get a nice big home in a nice neighborhood.

Educate me please

Thanks ;)

You probably saw the infomercial Free and Clear. They supposedly teach you how to buy property at tax sales and tax lien certificate sales. Government sales that are held when property owners don’t pay their property taxes. Buying a house for 300 dollars happens all the time. It’s just depends what you think buying means. Put it this way. You can go to a tax lien auction and buy a 100k house for 300 bucks in Louisiana. Now the tax debtor(homeowner) has 3 years to redeem his property by paying the back taxes and interest (1% a month + a 5 percent penalty). Do most properties get redeemed? Yep? But not all. and that is the trick. Finding the ones that won’t get redeemed. But did the house sell for 300 bucks? You bet. At tax Deed auctions. Where you buy the property and there is no redemption period. There are lots of people there with 10k looking to buy 100k houses. The problem for those people is there are people with 80k and 90K there looking to buy 100k properties. Can you get a good deal. You bet. But you have to kiss a lot of frogs.
